Marion Abbott

April 8, 1925 — March 9, 2016

Marion Davies Abbott, 90, passed away peacefully on March 9th, 2016 at MorningStar Senior Living in Boulder, Colorado. Marion had suffered a stroke in August, and despite many setbacks, remained positive and upbeat. The eldest of five children, she was born in April 1925 to the late Richard and Emma Davies of Peckville, Pennsylvania.

Marion grew up in Peckville and graduated from Blakely High School. After high school she attended Keystone College and worked in the business offices at the Globe Department Store in Scranton. In 1946, Marion married her high school sweetheart, William ‘Bill’ Abbott, upon his return from Naval service in WWII. They were happily married for sixty-two years when Bill passed away in 2008. Bill spent his life working for automobile companies; Davies Motors, Scranton Buick, Volkswagen of America, Mid-Atlantic Toyota and American Isuzu Motors. The family would move every four years setting up residence in New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois, Maryland, Ohio and finally retiring in Roswell, Georgia. As a corporate wife, Marion enjoyed traveling the world with her husband to many countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe. In retirement she and Bill enjoyed visiting and traveling with family and friends at home in the US.

Marion was an amazing cook, enjoyed gardening, reading, and knitting blankets for her family; but her all-time favorite pastime was watching baseball on television. Marion had an engaging laugh, affectionate smile and generous character. Foremost in her life were family and friends. Her unwavering love, support, advice, encouragement and especially her weekly phone calls, will be greatly missed.

Marion is survived by her brother Russell Davies of Milford, Del; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Jean Abbott of Boulder, Colo; daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Ed Farley of San Ramon, Calif; grandchildren, Patti & husband Jim, Nate, Brett and Tim; and great-grand-daughter Emily.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents Richard and Emma Davies and her siblings Dick Davies, Bob Davies and Margaret ‘Peg’ Farrow.

Marion will be interned next to her beloved husband at the Valley View Memorial Park in Jermyn, Pennsylvania.
