Mark Allen Thompson, 46, of Longmont passed away on February 17, 2017. Mark was born on January 20, 1971 in Topeka, Kansas to Allen and Patricia Thompson. Mark had a distinguished career in the United States Army. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army out of the University of Colorado ROTC program. He served with distinction in combat in Iraq, and took part in the invasion in 2003 in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was in the lead unit going into Baghdad as part of that operation. He served on active duty for a number of years achieving the rank of Major before being medically discharged for conditions related to his service in combat. He was a real estate investor and enjoyed the outdoors, reading, music and yoga. Mark is survived by his father, Allen Thompson; children, Christina Thompson, Hunter Thompson and Wyatt Thompson and their mother Vicki Thompson; brothers, Paul Thompson and Kris Thompson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Thompson. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 22 at 8:30am at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery. A luncheon reception will immediately follow the interment at Sacred Heart of Mary in Saint Bernard Hall.
