Mary Chaney

Mary Jean Chaney, 86, of Boulder, Colorado passed away at her daughter’s home on Thursday evening May 23, 2013, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on November 11, 1926 in Fairplay, Colorado to William and Emelia Popst. On June 23, 1951 Mary Jean and Ben Chaney were married in Boulder, Colorado. After graduating from Boulder High School, Mary Jean spent many years back at the school as Secretary to the Principal until she started her family. She loved spending time with her family, and adored her granddaughters Brittany, Chelby, and Reaghan. Mary Jean was a longtime member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. She was also a member and Past President of PEO (CB Chapter), an educational philanthropic organization. Mary Jean was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters: Evelyn, Anna, and Aileen, and her brother Jack. Mary Jean is survived by her husband, her daughter Nancy Jackson (Kim), her son Ben, siblings Doris Pennington, Nancy Gallagher (Terry), Carol Thompson (Norm), and many nieces, and nephews.
