"I wish that where I am they also may be with me."
John 17:25
Mary Grace Theresa Johnson Dalton, 46, of Erie, Colorado, devoted mother to nine, joyful grandmother to two and dear friend to countless others, passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2015.
Mary Grace died as she lived -- in service to her fellow man.
She and her husband Timothy Dalton were helping an injured motorcyclist when they were hit by another vehicle.
Both her husband and the motorcyclist survived.
Their son and two daughters in their vehicle were not injured.
Her husband says after witnessing the accident early Thursday morning on I-35 near Perry, Oklahoma, Mary Grace insisted on stopping to help.
The Daltons were bringing one of their sons to the Manning Passing Academy football camp at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana, when the accident happened.
Mary Grace was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, and was raised in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
She was a 1986 graduate of Edward Douglas White Catholic High School in Thibodaux.
She attended college at Nicholls State University, where she was active in Panhellenic life as a Delta Zeta. She was also the 1987 Pirogue and Homecoming Queen.
She went on to graduate from Louisiana State University in 1990.
She was the owner, head chef and Cajun Ambassador of Big Mama's Cajun Cooking Catering Company, where she enjoyed sharing her South Louisiana culture in the Boulder, Colorado, area and beyond.
Mary Grace was also an active member of St. Louis Catholic Parish in Louisville, Colorado, part of the Archdiocese of Denver, where her children attend St. Louis Catholic School and Holy Family High School in Broomfield, Colorado.
She is survived by her husband, whom she happily married on January 5, 1991, and her children; son Timothy II and daughter-in-law Ericka Lynn of Longmont; daughters Alexandra of Erie, and Gabrielle and her spouse Nicholas Michael Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska; sons Nathaniel, Paxton, Jean-Paul and Sebastian of Erie; and her youngest daughters Adeline and Jolie, also of Erie.
