Matthew Maurer

Matthew B. Maurer, Esquire, passed away in Williston, ND on May 17, 2014 at his home with the love of his life, his wife , Vita, at his side. Matt was born in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica, NY on September 6, 1979. He graduated with honors from New Hartford High School, New Hartford, NY where he was captain of his lacrosse team, and a defenseman on the NYS champion ice hockey team, in 1997. He graduated from Utica College in 2001 and cum laude from Suffolk University Law School, Boston, MA in 2004. Matt worked as a lawyer in Boston for Laborers' Legal Services and was a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association. Matt was currently employed by Blackhawk Energy Services in Williston, ND, a job that he loved. In addition to his wife, Vita Marie (Denton) Maurer, formerly of Boulder, CO, Matt leaves his two daughters, Angela (7) and Madison (3) his two brothers, Ted, his twin (Danielle) of Atlanta, GA and Kenny (Megan) of Raleigh, NC. He also leaves his parents, Edward and Rosemary of Oriskany, NY and Port Charlotte, FL, his paternal grandmother, Elaine Maurer, Aunts Virginia Pulitzer (Arthur) and Lauren Haas (Roger), Aunt Mary Skorulski, godfather James Skorulski, cousins, and many other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his grandfathers Edward Maurer, Jr. and Edward Kukowski and his grandmother, Gladys Kukowski.
