Merle Lonnon

Merle Dean Lonnon, 89, passed away Monday, August 1st, 2022 in Boulder, Colorado.

Merle was born in Ellis, KS on 05/14/1933 to Inez Isabelle (Louage) Lonnon and John Jennings Lonnon.

After high school, Merle entered the Air Force and loved his time stationed at the DEW Line as a Radar Technician. He married Phyllis Disney, whom he had known since 3rd grade, in 1962. Early in his married life, Merle received a BSEE in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. Merle and Phyllis moved to Arden Hills, MN in 1965, where he helped raise a family and retired.

During his career, Merle worked in the computer tech industry at Control Data and Bit 3 Computer in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Merle spent the last three years living in the Boulder, Colorado area with his children nearby.

Merle touched many lives with his smile and his many hobbies including photography, writing, woodworking, table tennis, fishing, and card playing.

Survivors include Merle’s four children: Ardith Ann Falkner, Eugene Dean Lonnon, Gregory Dean Lonnon, and Daryl Dean Lonnon; his grandchildren: Julia Ann Falkner, Grant Joseph Falkner, Matthew Dean Lonnon, Samantha Megan Lonnon, Nicholas Dean Lonnon, Paige Yasmin Lonnon, Maya Isabel Lonnon, Ethan Rohan Lonnon; and his sister, June Isabelle (Lonnon) Loveridge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, his parents, and his siblings, Wiley Eugene Lonnon, Zoe Eileen (Lonnon) Moorehouse and John Louage Lonnon.

A joint service celebrating both Merle and Phyllis is being planned for the Fall at Mount Hope Cemetery in Ellis, KS. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Mayo Clinic at https://mayocl.in/3zQDYYT.
