On the morning of May 16, 2023, Mollie Sue Morton of Boulder, CO died in
her home at the age of 70.
Mollie was born September 1, 1952 in Smithville, Clay County,
Missouri to Leon and Ruth (Adams) Morton. She grew up in Smithville
before moving to Excelsior Springs where she graduated High School.
Mollie attended the University of Missouri at Columbia for a year and a half
then transferred to William Jewell College for a year. She came to Boulder
where she began working at the University of Colorado while attending
classes and getting her degree in Business Administration in Management.
Mollie went on to get her Juris Doctor degree at the University of Denver,
College of Law, specializing in Employment Law.
Still at CU, Mollie continued her career in several capacities; Manager
of Payroll Systems, Employment Analyst and Manager of Support Services
& Labor Relations.
After retirement she enjoyed her memberships in many genealogical
societies, first joining the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in
2007 and serving as Chapter Regent from 2019-2021. She was an active
and valued member in fourteen other Genealogical Societies as well as the
Boulder Garden Club, and the Boulder branch of the American Association
of University Women. She was also an advocate for the Transplant
Program having herself received a bilateral Lung transplant in 2009.
Mollie is survived by her sister Martha and brother-in-law Bob Muessel of
Breckenridge, CO. She was a treasured friend to many. Her infectious
laugh and bright smile will be truly missed.
