Patricia “Pattie” Knierim died Monday, May 13 of complications from ovarian cancer. She was born in Jamestown, NY to Harry Lyle and Evon (Rowles) Maines on May 22, 1936. She met Willis “Willie” Knierim in Boulder and they married in 1962. Pattie was a teacher of mathematics in Boulder Valley Schools and at Front Range Community College. Her greatest legacy, besides her love for her family and friends, is the competence and confidence she gave to her students. She was a pianist and loved classical music, particularly Beethoven. As a Christian, Pattie sought seriously to understand and to live her faith (1 Timothy 6:12). She is survived by her husband of 50 years, two sons, Kurt (Barb) and their children Megan and Ethan of Fort Collins, and Peter (Heather) and their children Delia, Hayley, and Spencer of Boulder, and a sister, Orpha Behee of Frankfort, KY.
