Patricia Palaich of Boulder passed away peacefully at Balfour Retirement Community in Louisville in her adopted state of Colorado on October 25, 2014. She was 87.
Pat, the older of two children, was born on August 23, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri to John Kelly and Mary Lyons Kelly. She graduated from Soldan High School in St. Louis and received her B.A. from St. Louis University. She married Joseph Palaich in January of 1950 and they had two children, Bob and Jeanne. Pat devoted her early years to running her household and raising her children. When her husband died in 1962, she was thrust into the roll of provider and single parent. After the untimely early death of her husband, she taught first grade, completed her bachelors and masters degrees, and raised her children. Later, she served as the coordinator of Religious Education at St. Joan of Arc and All Souls Parishes in St. Louis. In 2004 she retired to Boulder, Colorado.
In Boulder she was active in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, volunteered with the Boulder Reads literacy program at Boulder Public Library, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Pat was a good listener, was always enthusiastic about the accomplishments of her friends and family, and cared deeply about others.
She is survived by her sister, Anne Kelly, of Maryland, her son, Bob Palaich, and his wife, Greta Maloney, of Boulder, her daughter, Jeanne Noda, of Maryland, and her granddaughter, Sarah Palaich, and her husband, Robert Heffern, of Aurora, Colorado. Her mother, Mary Lyons Kelly Robertson, predeceased her.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2312 14th St., Boulder, Colorado with reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 6901 McKenzie Road, St. Louis, Missouri on November 21, 2014 with a graveside service at 10:00 a.m.
