Patrick Mark Chomyn passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025 surrounded by family at Lund House-Hospice of the Valley in Gilbert, AZ. Patrick was born on August 8, 1963 to Walter J and Marge J Chomyn in South Bend, Indiana. He attended John Adams High School. In his senior yearbook he wrote: "Go West Young Man." After graduating from Purdue University that is exactly what he did. He traveled to Vail, Colorado, Boulder, CO and then on to California.
After a few years in California he married his college sweetheart, Nancy Hosier Chomyn, in 1989. They realized they wanted to raise their future family in Boulder. Patrick was a fun and involved father to son, Nathan, and daughter, Allyson, and their friends. He included the children and Nancy in his business activities, which they probably didn't enjoy at the time. Patrick spent the next 35 years building three businesses; TheTicketMan, GoalieClinics and RentSteps. Eventually he became a land developer of multi-tenant industrial buildings.
Patrick was active in his community, playing and coaching hockey for over 20 years. He volunteered at the Addiction Recovery Center and was an active member of the Boulder sober community. He touched many lives and helped many men and women achieve sobriety over the 30 years he was sober until his death.
He was predeceased by his father Walter Chomyn, his brother-in-law Rodney Shepherd, his nephew Ryan Chomyn and his older brother, Dan Chomyn. He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Nathan, daughter Allyson, and fiance Mike Eddy. Also surviving are his mother Marge Chomyn, siblings Tim(Elaine), Ann Shepherd, Joseph and Tom(Jeannine) and numerous nieces, nephews and their children.
Patrick will be buried in Hot Sulphur Springs, CO, as he wished, near the cabin where he spent many seasons hunting, fishing and acting as a guide for other sportsmen. He made many friends in the Hot Sulphur Springs area and felt a great sense of calm being outdoors both honoring and protecting it.
A service and gathering will be held in Boulder, CO at Greenwood and Myers Mortuary on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Diamond Lake with nearby family and long-time friends from John Adams High School.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution to The Nature Conservancy or the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, in Patrick's name, may be considered.
