Ramona Arlene Stafford, 86
Ramona Stafford of Milliken, CO, passed away on August 16, 2016 at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, CO, surrounded by family and friends. She was born on February 16, 1930 in Farlington, KS to Arnold and Irma Pearson, who preceded her in death.
Ramona had a happy childhood on the family farm in Kansas, as the first of three children. She attended a one room schoolhouse thru the 8th grade, and then went to boarding school at Enterprise, KS, at the age of 13. She graduated from the academy in 1947. Ramona attended one year of secretarial school at Union College in Lincoln, NE.
Ramona met the love of her life, Gene Stafford, in Topeka, KS. The married on June 19, 1949. Two children followed; Stephen Leroy was born in 1951 and Penny JoLynn followed in 1963. Gene and Ramona spent 67 years happily married.
Ramona worked in Lincoln, NE at BF Goodrich and The Nebraska Orthopedic Hospital while Gene was preparing for and attending Dental school at UNL. When Gene graduated in 1960 they moved to Wayne, NE, where he first practiced dentistry. Ramona was his dental assistant, secretary and bookkeeper while in Wayne. She also helped him with his dental practice in Boulder, CO, where they moved in 1962. She later worked at Boulder Memorial Hospital starting as a laboratory secretary, and later as administrative assistant at both BMH and Avista Adventist Hospital.
Ramona enjoyed gardening, snow and water skiing, camping, jeeping, playing games, travel and her family, particularly her granddaughters. She loved her pets, past and present. Most recently she travelled to Branson, MO, to celebrate Gene’s 90th birthday with family and friends. She and Gene also travelled to the Vail Valley to visit Steve and to see the wildflowers a couple of weeks before she passed. She was a life time member of the Seventh-day Adventist church.
Ramona is survived by her husband Gene, of Milliken, CO, her son Steve Stafford, of Gypsum, CO, her daughter Penny (Chuck) Myers, of Mead, CO, her granddaughters Linzie Myers, of Durango, CO and Taylor Myers, of Mead, CO, her brother Lamoine (Ruth) Pearson of Loveland, CO and
her sister Evie (Jim) Chaddic of Broomfield, CO
Cremation and memorial arrangements are entrusted to Greenwood and Myers Funeral Services of Boulder, CO (greenwoodmyersfuneral.com). Memorial services will be held at the Boulder Seventh-day Adventist church, 345 Mapleton Ave., on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 3:00 pm. Ramona will be privately laid to rest at the Johnstown Cemetery in Johnstown, CO. Donations may be made to Maranatha Volunteer’s International (maranatha.org) or the Parkinson’s Association of the Rockies (parkinsonrockies.org).
