Robert Becker

December 6, 1959 — April 2, 2023

Robert George “Bob” Becker, Jr., passed away unexpectedly on April 2, 2023, at the age of 63.
Bob is survived by his wonderful daughters Kate and Lauren, his wife Karen, his sister, Timm
Brandhorst, brother-in-law, Eric, their children Emma and Claire, several cousins and second
cousins, as well as many lifelong friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Susan and Bob
Becker, and his dear dog, Sally. At the time of his passing, Bob was a resident of Boulder, CO,
but he proudly lived most of his life in New Jersey. Bob grew up in Moorestown, NJ, and
cherished the bonds he formed in that community. Bob graduated from Moorestown High
School in 1978 and graduated from CW Post University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business
Administration/Marketing in 1984.

Like his father before him, Bob enjoyed his summers on the shore of beautiful Lake Champlain,
attending YMCA Camp Abnaki in South Hero, VT. Following in his father’s footsteps, Bob was
a camper, then Counselor in Training, and then Counselor, sharing his love of the camp with
many others over the 10 summers he spent there. In addition to his love of Abnaki, Bob also
shared a lifelong love of lacrosse with his father. When the family moved from Cherry HIll, NJ
and spent 4 years in Huntington, NY, Bob was introduced to the game of lacrosse. He excelled
at the sport and was the first freshman to start varsity lacrosse at Moorestown High School and
the first 4-year starter in school history. Bob continued his lacrosse career at CW Post
University, and also with the South Jersey Flames. When he reluctantly hung up his stick, Bob
helped to build, and coach for, the Moorestown Lacrosse Club. Bob also later coached his
daughters and helped to start a team at their high school in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ.
Bob was immensely proud of his two daughters and delighted in sharing their various
achievements and adventures with friends and family. When he spoke of them it was always
with a heartwarming smile on his face and an undeniable sense of paternal love. He cherished
the long memorable days he spent with them when they were younger, and was a supportive,
enthusiastic, loving, and proud father.

Over the years Bob enjoyed attending the US National Lacrosse Championships, meeting
friends and family to watch and celebrate. Bob also loved concerts and saw many popular
bands perform – many multiple times. He also loved sailing on the Metedeconk River,
skiing/snowboarding and biking, and had recently taken up boxing, to help alleviate the
symptoms of his Parkinson’s.

While in junior high Bob began delivering the local newspaper in order to save money for a
coveted dark green Schwinn Varsity 10-speed bike. HIs next mode of transport would be a ‘68
Ford Mustang in British racing green. During college Bob loved driving that beauty at the Jersey
shore, with the Stones or Springsteen at high volume. For Bob, beach life was best, and he
embraced that life ”working” as a lifeguard on Long Beach Island, while living with close friends.
After college, Bob worked in various sales and marketing jobs in CA, CT and PA, before getting
married and going back to school to get his MS in Family Therapy at Hahnemann University in
Philadelphia. After a stint as a stay at home dad for his 2 young daughters, Bob hung out his
own shingle: Becker Counseling was born.

A service is planned for 3 pm on Tuesday, April 18th at the First Presbyterian Church in
Moorestown, NJ. All are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in Bob’s name be made to the following
charities: Summercollab.org or Michaeljfox.org, or a charity of your choice.
