Robert Myers

June 7, 1942 — October 8, 2019

Robert Martin Myers (Bob), 77, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at home in Evans, Colorado with his family by his side. Bob was born in California to Willard and Angelina Myers. After the Dust Bowl and World War II when Bob was a child his family moved back to the family farm in Henderson, Colorado. Bob attended Hazeltine School and after graduating from Brighton High School, Bob enlisted in the Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. He and his lifelong friend, Chuck Swenson, both in Army Intelligence, managed communications behind enemy lines.

After returning home from the Army, Bob met Patricia Moat and they had two daughters Annie and Heidi where they raised them in Boulder, Colorado. Bob was a wonderful father and he loved his daughters. He coached softball for the girls and always had his red van full of girls for softball tournaments and Girl Scout activities. Annie and Heidi have, over the years, often spoken about what a great dad Bob was to them, a tribute they gave to him even while he was still living! Bob also loved his three granddaughters and he had many memories especially of Christmas time get togethers.

Bob and Pat divorced and later Bob met Karen who had no interest in meeting another man, especially someone who thought he knew everything. In fact, she flipped him off the first time she met him. Two years later, they married. Bob and Karen were married 24 years. They met at Regis University while obtaining their Masters Degrees. Bob was a wonderful husband about 98% of the time and about 99% of the time, Karen was a wonderful wife. Bob was a generous, loving husband who loved Karen very, very much.

Bob graduated with a Business Degree from CU Boulder and a Master’s Degree from Regis University. He earned his BS degree from who knows where but he was good at it.

Bob worked at IBM and Storage Tek and other manufacturing companies over the years as a Quality Manager/Engineer. He was also had his Brokers License and was a Realtor for several years in the Boulder County area. Bob’s dream job, however, was working for Magpul. Bob took a lot of pride in his work and he made a lot of friends along the way.

Bob earned his private pilot’s license in June, 1998, a lifelong dream of his. He enjoyed renting a plane and flying the blue skies with his wife. Bob also was an NRA Certified Rifle Trainer. Another one of his talents was being an accomplished artist. He used acrylic paints and painted several great pieces. He also liked to use pencils to sketch. When Bob and Karen went to Santa Fe, he would often sit on the Plaza and sketch. Bob loved going to Santa Fe with Karen and they traveled there many times in their 5th wheel camping and enjoying the southwestern culture. Bob was also an avid reader always having his Kindle with him. Bob was never without his dogs. He was a big believer in rescuing dogs and had many over the years. The only reason he and Karen had a camper was so they could take their dogs with them on vacation. Another love of Bobs was politics, Republican that was. If you wanted to discuss politics, you had better know your stuff.

Bob is survived by his wife Karen of 24 yrs; daughter Annie Zrubek of Superior, CO; Heidi (Ruffoni) and husband Dino of Laramie, WY; three grandchildren: Torey and Tatum Zrubek and Jacqueline Ruffoni. He is also survived by brother-in-law, John Johnson (Lois) of Aurora, CO.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents Willard and Angelina Myers: Buddy Myers, brother; Gerald Myers, brother; Lois Johnson, sister; Iva Green, mother-in-law; Rick Green, brother-in-law; Lynnie Mae Green, great niece.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the ASPCA where Bob donated monthly or your local animal shelter, or the Colorado Republican Committee.
