Robert D. Vaughan

Born March 8, 1925 in Ohio.
Passed away August 7, 2020 in Colorado Springs, CO - 95 years old

Bob grew up as a young boy during the Great Depression. He served in the Army during WWII in the Battle of the Bulge in Europe. He graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in business administration. He worked many years for AT&T in Denver and Manhattan and then for several small businesses in Boulder, CO. Having a strong work ethic, he started his own business late in life and worked well into his 80s.

Bob loved to travel, exercise, camp, read, fish, garden and he appreciated a good meal. He lived a very active lifestyle and always had a project he was working on. He managed money well and loved to talk about economics. In discussions with him, people admired his strong vocabulary that he used routinely. As a humble and unpretentious man, he lived in the same house in Boulder for more than 50 years until May 2020 when he moved to Colorado Springs to be near his daughter.

Bob enjoyed good health all his life and had no major surgeries, leaving him with nearly all original parts except for his tonsils. He stayed active up until the end of his life. He had been active in the Episcopalian faith and quietly expressed his faith in Jesus.

He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Mary Ann, three daughters, Karen (Bruce), Margo (Tim) and Diane, as well as two grandsons, Michael and Daniel. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Ruth McLelland, niece Perry, nephew Ken, and cousin Cathy Raggio (Jim) and her family.

Deepest appreciation to Bob’s neighbors, doctors, nurses, techs, therapists, chaplain and staff at Bonaventure Senior Living in Colorado Springs, Optimal Home Health, Bloom Home Health Care, New Century Hospice, and all others who took loving care of him. He was described by his caretakers as a good story teller, funny, pleasant and compliant.

A service at Fort Logan National Cemetery is anticipated.
