Shirley Coleman

Lifelong Boulder resident Shirley Coleman died May 11, 2023, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born August 7, 1928 in Boulder to Gertrude (Weaver) and William Fraser. She attended many schools in Boulder and graduated from Boulder High School in 1946. She married her high school sweetheart, Everett Coleman on April 6, 1947 and they lived happily on the family farm until his death in 2014. She worked in many capacities at Boulder Valley School District ending her career as the Special Education Bus Transportation Dispatcher. Shirley was a longtime member and officer in the Boulder Elks Lodge #566, the Busy Bees and Red Hats. She was an expert seamstress and artist. She had a creative side, making custom cards, knitting and crocheting. She loved to cook and was a wonderful caregiver to not only her own family, but many other members of the community. She was an avid volunteer. Shirley is predeceased by her husband, Everett; her parents, two brothers, and two sisters. She will be greatly missed by daughters, Patti Coleman, Carol Schory (Curt); grandchildren, Vickie Palmer (Wylie), Stacy Higby (Michael), Matthew Huggins (Erin Daly), Meredith Post (Nicolas); and great-grandchildren, Audrey and Heron Higby, Cory and Abby Palmer, Myleina and Alsacia Post, Mallory and Everett Huggins; and multiple nieces and nephews. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at the Boulder Elks Lodge #566 on May 30, 2023 at 11am. Please make donations in her name to the Boulder Elks Lodge #566 Scholarship fund, the Boulder County 4H Foundation or any charity of your choice.
