Thomas R. (Tom) Denfeld, age 88, of Boulder, died December 20, 2016. He was born December 18, 1928 in Minneapolis, MN to Victor and Elizabeth (Skrentny) Denfeld. Tom earned his GED and graduated from Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He served in the National Guard and was activated during the Korean War. He worked for IBM his entire career. Tom loved to garden, travel, wood work, tinker, play cards, and doing maintenance at the church. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts and Serra Club. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; children: David (Rachel), Ann (Steve) Hoffman, Mary (Tim, deceased) Topczewski, Joan (Rob) Engelhardt, Laura (Bill) Sipp and Joseph (Diane); 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandsons, and his sisters: Mary Ann (Clarence) Penick, Sr. Loretta and Kathleen. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pearl, his parents, his brother, Eugene, sister-in-law Kathryn and brother-in-law Clarence Penick. Rosary is at Green wood and Myers Mortuary located at 2969 Baseline Road, Boulder, CO at 7 p.m. on January 3, 2017. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus on January 4, 2017 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers please make monetary donations to TRU Community Care or Serra Club (not Sierra Club) in Tom’s memory. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
