Winnie C. Sanders (87) of Boulder, Colorado passed away October 31,
2021 surrounded by her family. Ms. Sanders was born March 9, 1934 in
Colon, Republic of Panama to the late Ira H. and Hellen J. Bass.
Winnie’s passions ran deep, but the breadth was simple: dignity,
equality and fundamental human rights for all. To further these goals
she made positive tangible differences in people’s lives though
countless hours of volunteering in the Boulder community.
One of her main priorities of the past week was to complete her ballot
and vote. For Winnie voting was non-negotiable. She would do so
despite any hurdle and she did.
An accomplished swimmer and tennis player, Winnie also participated
in the Bolder Boulder for many years. She excelled in music and dance
and was a majorette for the Pensacola High School marching band
before attending Florida State University where she studied journalism.
She retired from Blue Mountain Arts Boulder, Colorado after a
distinguished career as National Sales Manager.
Nothing brought Winnie more pride and joy than her grandsons, Ryan,
Matthew, and Aaron. Their pursuits, their families and their many
accomplishments were her lifeblood.
Ms. Sanders is survived by three children, Cheryl (Charles) Snyder of
Granville, Ohio, Keith (Ann) Sanders of Winter Park, Colorado and
Melinda (John) Sanders of Denver, Colorado. Three grandsons, Ryan
(Catherine) Snyder of Longwood, Florida, Matthew (Holly) Snyder of
Chicago, Illinois and Aaron L. Sanders of Bozeman, Montana. Five
great-grandchildren, Adam, Zoey, Stella, Wells and Tilly. Her sister,
Sandra J. Cummings of Prescott, Arizona survives.
